Abstract
Abstract Compounds of the following formula are disclosed: in which R is hydrogen or lower alkyl R 1 is hydrogen, or one of various substituents Z is -CH=CH-, -(CH 2 ) n - (n = 1,2,3, or 4) -(CH 2 ) p -S(O) m -(CH 2 ) r or -(CH 2 ) P - O-(CH 2 ) r (m=0,1 or 2, p and r are independently 0,1,2 or 3 provided r + p = 0,1,2 or 3) A is a substituted or unsubstituted benzo or pyrido ring, and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The compounds increase cardiac contractility.
