Method of displaying characters on a single row display device of a text processing system

Abstract

Abstract In order to display characters on a single row display device (ANZ) of a text processing system in which these characters are printed out on a corresponding print station at a later time and in which the printed out characters of each line are located on a base line, corresponding to the base position, and/or on superscript and subscript positions varying therefrom, it is proposed to displace vertically a sequence of characters of this kind on the single row display device (ANZ) in such a way that for the purposes of displaying the characters located in the base position these characters themselves are completely visible and the characters located in superscript and/or subscript positions become partially visible. In order to illustrate the characters illustrated in superscript position (subscript position), these characters themselves are completely visible, the characters located in the base position partially visible and the characters located in the subscript position (superscript) are not visible. The method according to the invention is used in teletext technology. <IMAGE>
