Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim
160 words
A hemostatic clip of a relatively nonresilient and nondeformable polymeric material comprising a pair of leg members, said leg members having opposed vessel clamping surfaces, said leg members being attached or attachable at their proximal ends in a rotatable hinge portion, said hinge portion comprising a pin disposed at the proximal end of one of the leg members and a complementary hook or eye disposed at the proximal end of the other leg member, said pin being sized to fit within the hook or eye, said hook or eye contacting the periphery of the pin and be rotatable about a portion of the periphery of the pin whereby the leg members may be moved from an open position wherein the legs diverge from one another to a closed position wherein the legs are substantially parallel and the vessel clamping surfaces adjacent one another and locking means for maintaining the legs substantially parallel when the clip is in a closed position.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
55 words
A hemostatic clip according to Claim 1 wherein the locking means comprises a protrusion extending from the vessel clamping surface of one leg member and a corresponding opening the vessel clamping surface of the other leg member whereby when the clip is closed the protrusion fits into the opening to lock the leg members together.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
24 words
A hemostatic clip according to Claim 2 wherein the protrusion includes raised areas on its surface to provide an interference fit with said openinq.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
43 words
A hemostatic clip according to Claim 1 wherein the locking means comprises a reverse hook means disposed adjacent the proximal end of one leg member and adapted to engage,,a portion of the other leg member when the clip is in the closed position.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
47 words
3, 5. A hemostatic clip according to Claim 1, 2,/ b r 4 wherein the outer surfaces of the leg members include clip applying means extending transverse of the outer surface and being positioned to be engaged by the jaws of a suitable forceps type clip applier.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
69 words
any one of 6. A hemostatic clip according to/Claims 1 to 5 wherein the pin at the proximal end of the first leg member is disposed in a slot extending from said leg member providing an opening between the pin and the body of the leg member and the hook on the proximal end of the second leg member being sized to fit within the opening about said pin.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
54 words
any one of 7. A hemostatic clip according to/Claims 1 to 6 including a protrusion adjacent the hook member of the second leg member which maintains the clip in its open position with the legs diverging but can readily be moved out of place to allow the legs of the clip to be closed.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
65 words
any one of 8. A hemostatic clip according to/Claims 1 to 7 wherein there is a barb extending from the vessel clamping surface of one leg member and a recess for accepting said barb disposed in the vessel clamping surface of the opposite leg member whereby the barb fits into said recess when the clip is closed to prevent transverse movement between the leq members.
