Abstract

Abstract The record disc has a first substrate (1) and a second substrate (6) coaxially positioned and spaced from the first substrate to form a space (5) therebetween. The second substrate (6) has an inner vent hole (10) perpendicular to its surface which provides fluid communication between the space (5) and the outside of the disc. A pressure equilibrium housing (8) is coaxially provided on the second substrate (6) in communication with the vent hole (10). This housing (8) has a recess on its inner surface adjacent the outer surface of the second substrate so as to form a cavity (9). An expansible membrane (13) is provided in the cavity (9) for receiving, through the vent hole (10), the interval pressure which exists in the air space. This cavity (9) also contains an outer vent hole (14), to provide equilibrium between the pressure within the air space (5) and the surrounding air.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 65 words
A radiation-sensitive record disc, comprising: a first substrate 1 having a recording layer 2 formed thereon; a second substrate 6 coaxially positioned with said first substrate 1, and adjacent said recording layer 2, to form an air space 5 therebetween; characterised by means 8-14 coupled to said air space 5 for equalizing the pressure between the air space 5 and the air surrounding the disc.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 65 words
A radiation-sensitive record disc, comprising: a first substrate 1 having a recording layer 2 formed thereon; a second substrate 6 coaxially positioned with said first substrate 1, and adjacent said recording layer 2, to form an air space 5 therebetween; characterised by means 8-14 coupled to said air space 5 for equalizing the pressure between the air space 5 and the air surrounding the disc.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 58 words
A radiation-sensitive record disc as claimed in claim 1 wherein the pressure equalizing means 8-14 has a pressure sensitive expansible means 3 which is arranged with a first surface coupled to said air space 5 and a second surface coupled to said surrounding air so as to allow for equalizing the pressure on the first and second surfaces.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 36 words
A radiation-sensitive record disc as claimed in claim 2 wherein said pressure equalizing means 8-14 has an inner venting means 10 coupled to said air space 5 and said first surface for permitting fluid communication therebetween.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 34 words
A radiation-sensitive record disc as claimd in claim 3 wherein said pressure equalizing means has an outer venting means 14 coupled to the surrounding air and said second surface for permitting fluid communication therebetween.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 20 words
A radiation-sensitive record disc as claimed in any preceding claims wherein said first substrate 1 is a transparent plastic substrate.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 24 words
A radiation-sensitive record disc as claimed in any preceding-claims wherein said second substrate is a transparent plastic substrate having the recording layer formed thereon.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 39 words
A radiation-sensitive record disc as claimed in claim 2, 3 or 4 wherein said equilibrium means has a cavity having a first portion and a second portion, said first portion separated from said second portion by said expansible means.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 53 words
A radiation-sensitive record disc as claimed in claim 3 wherein spacer means 3 is provided between the first and second substrates, the spacer means 3 comprising an annular plate having spaced grooves 12 concentrically provided on its surface to permit fluid communication between said air space 5 and said inner venting means 10.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 41 words
A radiation-sensitive record disc as claimed in claim 8 wherein said spacer means 3 has a notch 11 passing through said plate, adjacent its circumferential edge, for permitting fluid communication between said air space 5 and said inner venting means 10.
