Abstract

Abstract Translated from German Anisotrope Verbindungen mit negativer DK-Anisotropie und verbesserter fotochemischer Beständigkeit haben die in Patentanspruch 1 angegebene Formel (1); dabei ist keiner der im Molekül (1) vorhandenen Benzolringe direkt mit zwei Sauerstoffatomen verbunden, wodurch chinoide Bindungszustände ausgeschlossen sind, die bei Benzolringen mit zwei lateralen Nitrilgruppen die fotochemische Beständigkeit der anisotropen Verbindungen vermindern. Anisotropic compounds with negative DK anisotropy and improved photochemical stability have the formula (1) given in claim 1; none of the benzene rings present in the molecule (1) is directly connected to two oxygen atoms, which eliminates quinoid binding states which reduce the photochemical stability of the anisotropic compounds in benzene rings with two lateral nitrile groups.
