Abstract

Abstract in a mounting arrangement of lamellar, input/output devices (10) for a computer or telecommunications terminal, one of the devices (18) is movable relative to another of the devices (16) between a limited operational position in which a first input/output device (16) is operably exposed but masks a second device (18), and a fully operational position in which both the first and second devices (16, 18) are operably exposed. One embodiment has one input/output device sliding relative to a vertically adjacent input/output device, In another embodiment, input/output devices are hinged relative to each other and to a common cabinet base (20). The mounting arrangements offer the advantages of spatial economy, input/output device protection, and the capacity for an aesthetically attractive cabinet (20).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 70 words
Terminal equipment comprising a base, relative to which base are mounted first and second lamellar input/output devices characterised in that one of the devices is movable relative to the base between a first position in which the first device (16) is operably exposed, but overlies and masks the second device (18), and a second position in which both the first and second input/output devices (16 and 18) are operably exposed.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 70 words
Terminal equipment comprising a base, relative to which base are mounted first and second lamellar input/output devices characterised in that one of the devices is movable relative to the base between a first position in which the first device (16) is operably exposed, but overlies and masks the second device (18), and a second position in which both the first and second input/output devices (16 and 18) are operably exposed.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 32 words
Terminal equipment as claimed in claim 1, further characterised in that the second device (18) is slidable into a housing formed in the base (81), said housing underlying the first device (16).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 31 words
Terminal equipment as claimed in claim 1, further characterised in that the base (96) has a track (102) on an upper surface thereof within which the first device (92) is slidable.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 27 words
Terminal equipment as claimed in claim 1, further characterised in that both of the input/output devices (110 and 112) ' are hinged relative to the base (114).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 24 words
Terminal equipment as claimed in claim 1, further characterised in that at least one of the input/output devices (16 and 18) is a keypad.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 37 words
Terminal equipment as claimed in claim 1, further characterised in that in the second position, the first and second input/output devices (16 and 18) lie laterally adjacent one another to form a generally planar composite functional module.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 51 words
Terminal equipment as claimed in claim 1, further characterised in that the base (81) houses drive and monitoring electronics under the control of the first and second devices (16 and 18), the apparatus further comprising a flexible cable (88) electrically interconnecting the movable device (18) to said drive and monitoring electronics.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 41 words
Terminal equipment as claimed in claim 5, further characterised in that one of the input/output devices (16 and 18) is an alphanumeric keypad (18) and the other input/output device is an instruction keypad (16) having a pluarality of programmable keys (32).
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 27 words
Terminal equipment as claimed in claim 1, further characterised in that the base is a cabinet (20) which supports a telephone function (12) and a display (14).
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 40 words
Terminal equipment as claimed in claim 6, further characterised in that said one input/output device (18) and the base have cooperating mounting means ensuring that in said second position, said one input/output device (18) is inclined to a horizontal plane.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 20 words
Terminal equipment as claimed in claim 1, further characterised in that one of the input/output devices is a lamellar display.
