Abstract

Abstract The gearbox is suitable for mounting transversely in an agricultural or other vehicle, between a longitudinal engine shaft (312) and half-shafts (31). Bevel gears (311, 313, 315) and forward and reverse clutches (303 and 304) transmit drive to a hollow shaft (319) which is coupled to an input shaft (317) by a three-speed epicyclic range gear (305), if desired with the interposition of an epicyclic creep gear (306). The input shaft (317) extends from the range gear (305) through the hollow shaft (319) to a six-speed change speed gear (307) with a hollow output shaft (361). This shaft is flanked by two epicyclic gears (308, 309) with sun-wheels (371,373) connected by a shaft (375) extending through the hollow output shaft (361 thereby to form a split differential driving the half shafts (31). The shafts are exclusively on two shaft lines (I, II) which lie in the parting plane of a casing for the gearbox.
