Abstract

Abstract A catalyst component for polymerization of olefins which is prepared by bringing a magnesium dihydrocarbyl- oxide, preferably a dialkoxide, a halogenated hydrocarbon, and a titanium compound into contact with one another. The catalyst component together with an organoaluminum cocatalyst is used for the polymerization of olefins and especially for the homopolymerization of ethylene with an a-olefin having from 3 to 10 carbon atoms.

Independent Claim 66 words
A catalyst component for use in the polymerizaiton of olefins comprising a magnesium compound and a titanium compound characterized in that the the catalyst component is obtained by bringing into contact a magnesium compound of the formula Mg(OR)(OR') (wherein R and R', which may be the same or different, each represent an alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl group), a halogenated hydrocarbon and a titanium compound.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 66 words
A catalyst component for use in the polymerizaiton of olefins comprising a magnesium compound and a titanium compound characterized in that the the catalyst component is obtained by bringing into contact a magnesium compound of the formula Mg(OR)(OR') (wherein R and R', which may be the same or different, each represent an alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl group), a halogenated hydrocarbon and a titanium compound.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 25 words
A catalyst component according to claim 1, in which the magnesium compound and the halogenated hydrocarbon are contacted prior to contact with the titanium compound.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 25 words
A catalyst component according to claim 2, in which the magnesium compound, is contacted with a magnesium halide prior to contact with the halogenated hydrocarbon.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 20 words
A catalyst component according to claim 1, in which the magnesium compound, magnesium halide and halogenated hydrocarbon are contacted simultaneously.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 32 words
A catalyst component according to any of claims 1 to 4, in which the ratio of the magnesium compound to the halogenated hydrocarbon is from 1:0.01 to 1:20 on a mole basis.
Claim 7
