Abstract
Abstract cup-like container (3) useful as a reaction cuvette for receiving a liquid dispensing probe (17, 19) has at least one interior surface of hydrophilic material which has inwardly extending projections (31). The cuvettes may be mounted in, or formed integrally with, a reaction tray (1) and preferably include a pair of transparent parallel opposed side walls (23. 23') to define an optical passage through the cuvette for optical analysis of its contents. The cuvettes and trays are particularly useful in automatic analysis systems.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim
36 words
A cup-like receptacle, the interior of said receptacle defining at least one surface which has a plurality of inwardly extending projections of hydrophilic material, said receptacle further defining a sight passageway for analysis of said liquid.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
36 words
A cup-like receptacle, the interior of said receptacle defining at least one surface which has a plurality of inwardly extending projections of hydrophilic material, said receptacle further defining a sight passageway for analysis of said liquid.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
17 words
A cup-like receptacle as defined in claim 1, wherein said surface defines a plurality of ridge-like projections.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
26 words
A cup-like receptacle as defined in claim 1 or 2, wherein said receptacle includes at least two parallel transparent opposing wall portions defining said sight passageway.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
77 words
A reaction tray comprising a plurality of reaction cuvettes, said tray adapted to be rotated about an axis, said cuvettes being circularly disposed about said axis, whereby rotation of said tray advances each cuvette, in turn, to a liquid dispensing station, the interior of each cuvette defining at least one surface which has a plurality of inwardly extending projections of hydrophilic material and each of said cuvettes defining a sight passageway for analysis of the contents thereof.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
77 words
A reaction tray comprising a plurality of reaction cuvettes, said tray adapted to be rotated about an axis, said cuvettes being circularly disposed about said axis, whereby rotation of said tray advances each cuvette, in turn, to a liquid dispensing station, the interior of each cuvette defining at least one surface which has a plurality of inwardly extending projections of hydrophilic material and each of said cuvettes defining a sight passageway for analysis of the contents thereof.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
23 words
A tray according to claim 4, wherein said reaction tray defines a central opening for mounting of said tray on a rotatable shaft.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
22 words
A tray according to claim 4 or 5, wherein each of said cuvettes is disposed along a radius of said reaction tray.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
18 words
A tray according to claim 4,5 or 6, wherein said one surface defines a plurality of ridge-like projections.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
18 words
A tray according to claim 4,5,6 or 7, wherein said tray is formed of acrylic or polystyrene material.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
34 words
A tray according to claim 6, wherein each of said cuvettes includes two transparent sides spaced at a predetermined distance to define a sight passageway therethrough, said sight passageway being located along said radius.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
22 words
A tray according to any of claims 4 to 9, wherein each of said cuvettes is integrally formed in said reaction tray.
