Abstract

Electrolytic production of ozone in that an oxygen-saturated mixture of water and oxygen or air on both sides of a solid electrolyte (1) serving as an ion exchange membrane, which has coatings (2, 3) made of electrically conductive materials on both the cathode and anode sides, is guided along, with ozone being developed in addition to oxygen on the anode side and hydrogen evolution on the cathode side being suppressed by the depolarizing effect of the oxygen carried in the water stream and only water being formed. Carrying out the electrolysis under increased pressure. Single electrolysis cell consisting of centrally arranged solid electrolytes (1), each provided with a surface coating (2, 3), held between current collectors (4) and subsequent open metallic structures (5), delimited by bipolar plates (6) Several individual cells between end plates (7 ) summarized, electrically in series, connected in parallel in terms of flow technology, combined into one block. Application in water treatment and as part of chemical processes (oxidation processes).
