Abstract

Abstract Disk clamping mechanism for disk recording and reproducing devices of the type in which when a disk cartridge with a disk (6) enclosed therein is inserted into the device the disk clamping mechanism is actuated to clamp the raised groove guard formed around the rim of the disk (6) so that the disk (6) is pulled out of the cartridge when the latter is pulled out of the device. The clamping mechanisms include a pair of clamping arms or fingers (120-121) with projections adapted for engagement with the groove guard when the forces for pulling out the cartridge are transmitted to the disk (6) and employ a linkage or a mechanism of a wedge and tapered surfaces which is operatively connected to the clamping arms or fingers (120-121) in such a way that when the pulling forces are exerted to the disk (6) and to the clamping arms or fingers (120-121) the linkage or wedge- tapered surface mechanism causes the clamping arms or fingers (120-121) to move further each other, thus exerting stronger clamping forces to the disk (6).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim 117 words
A disk recording and reproducing device of the type in response to the insertion through a disk cartridge insertion slot thereof of a disk cartridge with a disk enclosed therein, a disk clamping means being actuated so as to clamp the groove guard of said disk which is formed along the rim thereof, whereby the clamped disk being pulled out of the disk cartridge, characterized in that said disk clamping means is so designed and constructed that when the forces are exerted to said disk so as to pull it out through said disk cartridge insertion slot after said disk has been clamped by said disk clamping means, said disk clamping means can increase its clamping forces.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 117 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 150 words
A disk recording and reproducing device as set forth in Claim 1 further characterized in that said disk clamping means comprises (a) a support means which is rigidly attached to the main body of said disk recording and reproducing device, (b) rotating means or linkage means which is or are rotatably connected to said support means, and (c) finger means which is or are so shaped as to receive the forces which pull said disk out of said disk recording and reproducing device and which is operatively connected to said rotating means or linkage means and is or are adapted to clamp the groove guard of said disk, whereby when said forces are exerted to said disk to pull it out, said rotating means or linkage means so functions or function that said finger means is or are driven into the direction in which the disk clamping forces are increased.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 95 words
A disk recording and reproducing device as set forth in Claim 1 further characterized in that said disk clamping means comprises finger means which is rotatable and movable toward the direction of said disk cartridge insertion slot; and tapered surface means are securely attached to said disk recording and reproducing device in such a way that when said finger means is or are caused to move said direction of said disk cartridge insertion slot, said finger means is or are caused to toward said disk so as to clamp said disk by said finger means.
