Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 164 words
An apparatus for storing information storage mediums in casings, comprising: first means (22, 23) for picking up and transferring an information storage medium to a storage position; second means (45, 46) for stocking and transferring a casing to said storage position; third means (96, 97, 73) for holding the casing in said storage position, said first and third means being capable of coaction with each other for inserting the information storage medium into the casing in said storage position to provide a completed assembly of the casing and the information storage medium contained therein; and fourth means (125) for stocking and discharging said completed assembly, characterized in that said third means comprises a casing holder mechanism for holding the casing (44) as fed to said storage position, and a lid plate remover (73) for removing a lid plate (72) from said casing (44) as supported by said casing holder mechanism to leave a sleeve (93) held in the latter while opening said sleeve (93).
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 154 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said second means comprises a stocker (45) for stocking a stack of casings (44), and a casing pusher (46) for pushing one of the casings (44) at a time from said stocker (45) to said storage position, said stocker (45) including means for dropping said one casing (44) from said stack of casings (44) to release said one casing (44) of a load imposed of said stack of casings (44), said dropping means comprising a fluid cylinder (63) having a piston rod (64), a pair of toggle arms (66, 66) operatively connected to said piston rod (64), and a pair of rubber grippers (68, 68) for supporting therebetween said stack of casings (44), said rubber grippers (68, 68) being movable away from each other in response to actuation of said fluid cylinder (63) for allowing said one casing (44) to fall off said rubber grippers (68, 68).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 177 words
An apparatus according to claim 1 or 2 wherein said casing holder mechanism includes a pair of pivotable arms (96, 97) angularly movable toward and away from each other, a pair of suckers (94, 95) mounted on said pivotable arms (96, 97), respectively, for engaging said casing disposed therebetween, a guide rail (115), a slide (116) supporting said pivotable arms (96, 97) and movable along said guide rail (115) to displace said pivotable arms (96,97) between said storage position and a position remote therefrom, a fluid cylinder (108) supported on said slide (116) and operatively connected to one of said pivotable arms (96, 97), a sleeve holder (103) supported by said slide (116) and positioned between said pivotable arms (96, 97) for holding the sleeve (93), and a pair of gears (113, 114) mounted respectively on said pivotable arms (96, 97) remote from said suckers (94, 95) and held in mesh with each other for angularly moving said pivotable arms (96, 97) toward and away from each other in response to actuation of said fluid cylinder (108).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 55 words
An apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said suckers (94, 95) are actuable under vacuum developed therein for attracting upper and lower surfaces of said sleeve (93) to open an insertion slot (93A) therein, said sleeve holder (103) including a pair of rubber grips (104, 105) for sandwiching an end of the sleeve (93) therebetween.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 81 words
An apparatus according to claim 3 or 4, wherein said third means further includes a rest (121) for supporting the information storage medium in said storage position when said pivotable arms (96,97) are moved to said position remote from said storage position, said rest (121) having a tapered projection (122) for insertion into a hole in the information storage medium and a channel (121C) for developing therein a vacuum to attract the information storage medium as supported on said rest (121).
Claim 7
Independent Claim 135 words
An apparatus according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said fourth means comprises a pair of stacker plates (125, 125) defining therebetween a stocking space for completed assemblies, a fluid cylinder (127), a lifter table (142) operatively connected to said fluid cylinder (127) for lifting one of the completed assemblies at a time into said stocking space, and a pair of pivotably movable holder plates (128, 128) having a pair of holder surfaces (128B, 128B), respectively, facing said stocking space, said lifter table (142) with the completed assembly being movable into said stocking space in response to actuation of said fluid cylinder (127), whereby the completed assembly can be retained on said holder surfaces (128B, 128B) when said lifter table (142) is retracted out of said storage space by said fluid cylinder (127).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 44 words
An apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said fourth means further includes a discharge conveyor (138), a fluid cylinder (135) and a pusher plate (137) actuatable thereby for pushing a predetermined number of completed assemblies out of said stocking space onto said discharge conveyor.
