Abstract

An input circuit for a field effect transistor (FET) memory is described, which consists of a bootstrap inverter (1 to 8), which is precharged by a dynamically operating precharge circuit (10 to 12) for precharging the bootstrap node (23) Operating voltage is supplemented and can be controlled directly with TTL levels without interposing a level converter made up of bipolar transistors. For this purpose, the input electrode of the capacitor (12) of the dynamically operating precharge circuit is connected to the output (17) of an inverter (16) following the input circuit. A discharge branch (13, 14, 15) is also provided for the node (20) of the dynamically operating precharge circuit. The other end of the discharge branch is connected together with the gate of the precharge field-effect transistor (11) of the dynamic precharge circuit to the output (19) of a further inverter (18) following the first. This ensures that when the potential of the bootstrap node (23) rises above the value VH of the operating voltage, this node cannot discharge itself via the FET 10 to the positive pole of the operating voltage source in the event of the bootstrap effect. This would counteract the potential increase of the bootstrap node (23), so that the potential of the output (8) of the input circuit only increases slowly and would not reach the full value VH of the operating voltage.
