Abstract

Abstract A seat has an armrest pivotable between an operating position approximately parallel to the seat cushion and a position parallel to the seat back, and translatable in the operating position between two heights with respect to the seat cushion. A first member (6) fixed to the seat back (1) includes an arcuate cutout (21) and a pin-receiving portion (23). A second member (5) is pivotably connected to the first member (6) opposite a first end of the cut-out (21), and is pivotably connected to the armrest (2), the distance between the pivotal points approximating the radius of curvature of the cut-out (21). The armrest (2) has a projecting pin (20) engagable in the cut-out (21 which serves to guide the pin (20), and thus the armrest (2), during rotation of the armrest (2). A recess at the first end of the cut-out (21) allows the pin (20) to disengage therefrom and the pin (20) can then be raised to the level of the pin-receiving member (23) and supported thereby.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 142 words
A seat (1') having an arm rest (2) and a seat back (1), comprising : (a) a first member (6) fixedly attached to said seat back (1), said first member having a first stopper (21A) and a second stopper (23) ; (b) a second member (5) rotatably supported at an upper end thereof by said first member (6), said second member (5) being rotatably connected at the lower end thereof with said arm rest (2) ; (c) a projection (20) protruding from said arm rest and being engaged with said first stopper (21A) when said arm rest is tilted to a first set position, said projection being engaged with said second stopper (23) when said arm rest is placed in a second set position while said second member (5) is rotated, said second set position being higher than said first set position.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 142 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 44 words
A seat as set forth in claim 1, which further comprises a third member (8) which rotatably supports said second member (5) at the lower end of said second member (5) so as to connect said second member (5) with said arm rest (2).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 38 words
A seat as set forth in claim 1, wherein said first member (6) has a third stopper (21B) with which said projection is engaged when said arm rest (2) is placed in parallel with said seat back (1).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 33 words
A seat as set forth in either claim 1 or 2, which further comprises a fourth member which rotatably hinges said second member (5) at the upper end thereof on said first member.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 51 words
A seat as set forth in claim 3, wherein said first member (6) has an arcuate cut-out portion (21), one end (21A) of said arcuate cut-out portion being said first stopper and the other end thereof being said third stopper (21B), so as to provide a movable range for said projection.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 43 words
A seat as set forth in claim 5, wherein said first member (6) has a recess at one end of said cut-out portion so as to provide a passage allowing engagement and disengagement of said projection with and from said cut-out portion (21).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 37 words
A seat as set forth in claim 1, wherein said second stopper (23) is a semi-circular recess located so that said second member (5) is rotated about the upper end thereof and said projection (20) is supported.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 23 words
A seat as set forth in claim 5, wherein said second stopper (23) is a semi-circular recess located above said cut-out portion (21).
