Abstract

Abstract An automatic assembly system wherein parts (10) supplied from a feeder (22) are held by a holder and are automatically mounted onto predetermined positions of a circuit board (1), comprising a first image pickup device (34) which images at least a portion of said circuit board (1), a second image pickup device (30) which images at least a portion of the part (10) held by the holder means, a signal processor which processes an output of said first image pickup device (34) to detect a deviation of said circuit board (1) from a reference position and which also processes an output of said second image pickup device (30) to detect a magnitude of deviation between said part (10) and the predetermined position of said circuit board (1), and a positioning device (20, 25) which operates under control of said signal processor so as to adjust said predetermined position of said circuit board (1) to a position opposite to said part (10) and also to move said part (10) toward said circuit board (1).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 164 words
An automatic assembly system wherein parts supplied from a feeder (22) are held by a holder (25) and are automatically mounted onto predetermined positions of a circuit board (1), comprising a first image pickup device (34) which images at least a portion of said circuit board, a second image pickup device (30...32) which images at least a portion of the part (10) held by the holder means, a signal processor (40) which processes an output of said first image pickup device to detect a deviation of said circuit board from a ref ence position and which also processes an output of said second image pickup device to detect a magnitude of deviation between said part and the predetermined position cf said circuit board, and a positioning device (20, 25) which operates under control of said signal processor so as to adjust said predetermined position of said circuit board to a position opposing said part and also to move said part toward said circuit board.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 164 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 104 words
An automatic assembly system as defined in claim 1, wherein said first image pickup device (34) has a fixed field of view and receives images of a plurality of places on said circuit board (1), said second image pickup device (30...32) has a movable field of view and receives images of a plurality of places on said part (10) held by the holder means (25), with said holder kept fixed, and said signal processor (40) processes the plurality of input images from said first and second image pickup devices so as to detect the respective positional deviations of said circuit board and said part.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 44 words
An automatic assembly system as defined in claim 2, wherein said second image pickup device consists of an objective (31), an eyepiece (32) and a television camera (30), and the imaging field of view is changed by moving a position of said objective (31).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 156 words
An automatic assembly system as defined in any of claims 1 to 3, wherein said positioning device consists of first positioning means (20) capable of moving said circuit board (1) in directions of X- and Y-axes and a rotational direction round a Z-axis intersecting orthogonally the X- and Y-axes, and second positioning means (25) capable of moving the part (10) in a direction of the Z-axis and the rotational direction round the Z-axis, and wherein said signal processor (40) controls the positioning of said first positioning means in the rotational direction round the Z-axis in response to the processed result of the output signal of said first image pickup device (34), and controls the positioning of said second positioning means in the rotational direction round the Z-axis and said first positioning means in the directions of the X- and Y-axes in response to the processed result of theoutput signal of said second image pickup device (30...32).
