Claim 1
Independent Claim
163 words
Antifreeze concentrates for cooling systems of internal combustion engines, consisting predominantly of alcohols and containing as corrosion inhibitors small amounts of a copolymer obtained by reaction of (a) 5 - 45 parts by weight of an organosilicone sulfonate of the formula where M is a cation derived from hydrogen, alkali metal and ammonium and R is an aralkyl moiety having 8 to 14 carbon atoms, the sulfo group being attached to the aryl part and the silicon to the alkyl part, or an alkylene moiety with 2 to 30 carbon atoms or a cycloalkylene moiety with 4 to 18 carbon atoms, or a hydroxy substituted alkylene or alkylene--oxyalkylene moiety having 3 to 18 carbon atoms, the hydroxy group being in ß-position to the sulfonyl group and (b) 55 to 95 parts by weight of a water-soluble silicate of the formula II where X is a cation derived from sodium, potassium, lithium, rubidium and tetraorganoammonium, and e has a value from 1 to 3.
