Abstract

Abstract A process for producing hydrocarbons comprising contacting, under conversion conditions, an aqueous methanol with a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite catalyst which is hydrothermally stable in the temperature range of from 250°C to 500°C and is capable of converting methanol to hydrocarbons, and with a promoter comprising one or more compounas selected from the group consisting of aromatic hydrocarbons, precursors to aromatic hydrocarbons, olefins, precursors to olefins and aldehydes to form a mixture comprising light olefins, lower alkanes and monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and recovering said hydrocarbons.
