Process for the production of sulphates of ethers with a reduced content of dioxane
Abstract
Abstract The process for the production of alkali metal, ammonium and alkanolammononium salts of alkyl polyglycol ether sulphates and alkylaryl polyglycol ether sulphates has as its objects a reduction in the unavoidable content, according to the known process, of 1,4- dioxane and comprises a) the production of a 50 - 80 % strength solution of the ether sulphates, b) the removal of a dioxane/water azeotrope by evaporation and c) if desired a dilution of the ether sulphate to a lower use concentration. The evaporation is preferably carried out continuously, in a thin film at 80 DEG -95 DEG C and at a pressure of 10-100 mbar. The dioxane content can be reduced as far as is desired by means of the novel process, for example to values below 5 ppm.
