Abstract
Abstract There is disclosed a document information filing system which displays the title information and the picture information by means of single display device (22) comprised of a cathode-ray tube. A two-dimensional scanning device (10) is provided for optically scanning a document to be filed to produce picture information corresponding to the document. The picture information produced by the scanner (10) is magnetically recorded on a magnetic tape of an information custody device (26) together with a retrieval information corresponding to the picture information and comprised of a plurality of code groups. When a proper code constituting the retrieval information is set by a keyboard (16), the title information including this code is selected from the information custody device (26). On the basis of the title information, desired document picture information is retrieved and extracted. The retrieval code of the title information and the desired document picture information are selectively transmitted to a cathode-ray display (22) by way of a gate circuit (64).

A document information filing system comprising scanning means (10) for optically scanning a document to be filed to produce picture information corresponding to said document, memory means (26) for storing at least one piece of said picture information and at least one piece of filing information which is corresponded to said picture information and comprised of a plurality of code groups, and input means (16) for setting at least one code in said code groups constituting said filing information, said filing system selecting at least one piece of said filing information including said code designated by said input means (16) and for retrieving, extracting and at least displaying said picture information corresponding to said filing information selected, characterized in that said selected filing information including said code designated by said input means (16) and said picture information extracted by the retrieval operation are displayed on a single display device (22) under the control of display control means (60, 62, 64, 120, 122).
