Abstract
Abstract A fluidized bed combustor having, in its distributor plate assembly (33) at the bottom of the combustion chamber, air outlets (49) in the distributor plate surface (42), air flow riser tubes (50, 52) projecting above the surface, light liquid fuel nozzles (56) located adjacent certain of the riser tubes (52) for injection of liquid fuel into the air forcefully flowing up these riser tubes, and the share of air flowing through the riser tubes relative to the share of air flowing through the outlets being controlled by regulating means (62).

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim
170 words
A fluidized bed combustor comprising: a combustion chamber (30); a distributor plate assembly (33) at the bottom of the combustion chamber; the assembly including a housing (34); a surface (42) in the top of the housing, having air flow openings (49) to said combustion chamber; air flow riser tubes (50,52) projecting up to a position elevated above the surface, having air inlets adjacent the bottom of the riser tubes and air outlets adjacent the top thereof; the riser tubes comprising a first set of riser tubes (50) and a second set of riser tubes (52); fuel nozzles (56) arranged for injection of liquid fuel into the riser tubes of the second set (52) for elevation and discharge of the fuel with air flow to the combustion chamber; forced air supply means (64) to the housing for air flow thereto under pressure; and air flow control means (62) for regulating air flow through the air flow openings (49) in the surface (42) relative to air flow through the riser tubes (50,52).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
33 words
A combustor as claimed in claim l in which the outlets of the riser tubes of the second set (52) are above the outlets of the riser tubes of the first set (50).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
53 words
A combustor as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 in which the housing forms a first air plenum (36) and a second air plenum (38), the air flow openings (49) leading from the first plenum to the combustion chamber (30), and the riser tubes (50,52) projecting up from the second air plenum.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
22 words
A combustor as claimed in claim 3 in which the air flow control means (49) is between the first and second plenums.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
48 words
A combustor as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 4 in which the fuel nozzles (56) are at the lower ends of the riser tubes of the second set (52) oriented to inject liquid fuel into the bottom of the riser tubes of the second set.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
56 words
A combustor as claimed in any of claims 1 to 5 in which the surface (42) in the top of the housing (34) has the shape of an inverted pyramid and the air flow openings (49) in the surface are slots with offset shields (51) thereabove forming laterally oriented air flow openings into the combustion chamber.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
23 words
A combustor as claimed in claim 6 in which the slots extend in vertical plane perpendicular to the respective sides of the pyramid.
