Abstract

Abstract Disclosed is a method of producing color filters, which comprises forming a layer of an organic polymeric material having a predetermined light-sensitive characteristic on a substrate (21) exposing this layer to a predetermined pattern, developing the exposed layer to form a filter base (24) and dyeing the filter base (24), wherein after the development of the exposed layer, the layer is wetted with a dehydrating agent (25) to remove water from the filter base (24). By this dehydrating treatment, the filter base (24) can be produced without distortion to a very high precision. The dehydrating agent (25) can be an anhydrous or water-diluted alcohol, such as methanol.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 89 words
A method of producing color filters, which comprises the steps of forming a layer (22) of an organic polymeric material having a predetermined light-sensitive characteristic on a substrate (21), exposing the layer of the organic polymeric material to a predetermined pattern (23), developing the exposed layer of the organic polymeric material to form a filter base (24, 44, 52, 53, 54) and dyeing the filter base, characterised in that after the development of the layer of the organic polymeric material, said layer is wetted with a dehydrating agent (25).
Claim 2
Independent Claim 89 words
A method of producing color filters, which comprises the steps of forming a layer (22) of an organic polymeric material having a predetermined light-sensitive characteristic on a substrate (21), exposing the layer of the organic polymeric material to a predetermined pattern (23), developing the exposed layer of the organic polymeric material to form a filter base (24, 44, 52, 53, 54) and dyeing the filter base, characterised in that after the development of the layer of the organic polymeric material, said layer is wetted with a dehydrating agent (25).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 31 words
A method of producing color filters according to claim 1, wherein after the step of wetting the layer of the organic polymeric material with the dehydrating agent, said layer is baked.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 19 words
A method according to claim 2 wherein the baking is conducted in an atmosphere maintained at 100 to 300°C.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
A method of producing color filters according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the dehydrating agent contains at least one alcohol.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 11 words
A method according to claim 4 wherein the alcohol is anhydrous.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 24 words
A method of producing color filters according to claim 4, wherein the dehydrating agent is a solution of at least one alcohol in water.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 18 words
A method according to claim 6 wherein said layer is wetted with successive dehydrating solutions of increasing strengths.
Claim 9
Independent Claim 31 words
A method of producing color filters according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the substrate is the substrate (51) of a light-receiving device having a light-receiving portion (510) therein.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 26 words
An image pickup device having one or more color filters (52, 53, 54) formed thereon by a method according to any one of the preceding claims.
