Abstract
Abstract A decoder for PCM signals modulated in a TV-format signal with a control data word for use in the control of a decoding operation. The processor is provided with a PCM signal decoder (12, 13, 14), means for extracting the control data word from the TV format signal, means (24, 25) for latching the extracted control data word, means (29) for checking agreement between a newly extracted control data word and the latched control data word, and means for applying the agreement-checked control data word to the PCM signal decoder.

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim
154 words
A PCM signal processor for decoding PCM signals from a TV format signal whose vertical period includes a control data block comprising a control data word for use in the control of a decoding operation and a data block comprising PCM data words, the said processor comprising: means for demodulating the said control data block and the said data block from the said TV format signal input to it; - means for converting the said blocks to parallel signals respectively; means for de-interleaving the said parallel signals of the said data block; means for processing the said de-interleaved signals; means for latching the said control data word; means for checking agreement between the said control data word and the said latched control data word; and means for applying the said control data word which is checked as its regards agreement with the said latched control data word to the said de-interleaved signal processing means.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
39 words
A PCM signal processor according to claim 1, further comprising: means for generating a control signal in accordance with the said control data word block; and means for controlling the said agreement checking means using the said control signal.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
38 words
A PCM signal processor according to claim 2, further comprising means for detecting a block error of the said control data block and wherein the said controlling means is under control of the said block error detecting means.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
81 words
A PCM signal processor according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the said latching means comprises two D-FFs connected in series between the said converting means and the said processing means and the said agreement checking means comprises an EX-NOR gate having two inputs connected to an input and an output of the D-FF near the said converting means, and whose output is connected to a set pulse input of the D-FF near the said processing means. -
