Abstract

Abstract In a plate heat exchanger comprising a plurality of plates (10, 15) placed together to define heat exchange passages (18, 19) between pairs of adjacent plates, the plates being provided with turbulence generating corrugations which on adjacent plates intersect to define supporting areas at which the plates abut each other, at least one plate (10) of one or more pairs of adjacent plates has recessed supporting areas (13) whereby the volume of the passage (18) defined between said plates is reduced.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 80 words
A plate heat exchanger comprising a plurality of generally rectangular plates placed together to define heat exchange passages between pairs of adjacent plates, the plates being provided with turbulence generating corrugations (11,12) which on adjacent plates intersect to define supporting areas at which the plates abut each other, characterized in that at least one plate of one or more pairs of adjacent plates has recessed supporting areas (13,23) whereby to reduce the volume of the passage defined between said plates.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 80 words
A plate heat exchanger comprising a plurality of generally rectangular plates placed together to define heat exchange passages between pairs of adjacent plates, the plates being provided with turbulence generating corrugations (11,12) which on adjacent plates intersect to define supporting areas at which the plates abut each other, characterized in that at least one plate of one or more pairs of adjacent plates has recessed supporting areas (13,23) whereby to reduce the volume of the passage defined between said plates.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 33 words
A heat exchanger according to claim 1, wherein in at least a portion of the heat exchanger every other plate (10) is provided with recessed supporting areas (13) on one of its sides.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 35 words
A heat exchanger according to claim 1 or 2, wherein in at least a portion of the heat exchanger each plate (20,30) is provided with recessed supporting areas (23) on one of its sides. ,
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 20 words
A heat exchanger according to claim 3, wherein the recessed supporting areas (23) of adjacent plates (20) face each other.
