Abstract

Abstract The invention relates to a method for reducing waiting times in the displaying of text and graphics pages which are transmitted from a transmitter via a data channel to at least one receiver in an information system, in which, apart from the page shown, adjacent pages are also stored. At the transmitter end, additional information (ZU) containing information on pages with associated content is added to the characters to be displayed. At the subscriber end, the relevant pages are selected in addition to the displayed page by a selection circuit (AU) by means of a detection circuit (ER) and a sequence control (AL) and stored in a page store (SP). A ''dialogue'' can be carried out with the page store via an operating console (BP). Waiting times during the selection of a new page are largely eliminated. The ''dialogue'' is of such a nature that, in addition to the selection of the next page and of the page last shown, branches and jumps and jumps back to pages previously shown are also possible (Figure 3). <IMAGE>
