Polyester compounds, a process for their preparation, and their use as textile softeners
Abstract
The new textile softeners are polyesters containing tertiary amino groups or their salts with lower carboxylic acids, for example acetic or glycolic acid, and mineral acids. They are produced by reacting a dicarboxylic acid of the formula: R 3 = aliphatic, aromatic or alicyclic, optionally substituted radical C 1-10 , preferably alkylene or phenylene, for example adipic or terephthalic acid with an alkoxylated tertiary amine of the formula: R = saturated or unsaturated, straight-chain or branched aliphatic radical (C 1-20, preferably C 6-20), R 1 , R2 = identical or different H or -CH 3 , preferably R 1 , R 2 = H, m, n = 1-20 at 230-260 ° C under normal pressure or <220 ° C at 2 mbar pressure, optionally in the presence of water-immiscible organic solvents for azeotropic distillation of the water of reaction, preferably xylene, and with the exclusion of atmospheric oxygen, and optionally in the presence of small amounts of antioxidants, preferably 0.02-0.2% by weight of hypophosphorous acid, in order to obtain light-colored products.
