Abstract
Abstract For the measurement and the indication of low temperatures, particularly between 0°C and -30°C, there is foreseen a thermometric composition of cholesteric substances comprising, besides cholesteryl nonanoate, cholesteryl oleyl carbonate and cholesteryl chloride, cholesteryl acetate in an amount increasing with the increase from 0°C to -30°C of the temperature to be measured and indicated. There are also contemplated thermometric indicating devices, particularly suitableforthe measuring and indicating of the temperature of freezing cells.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim
35 words
Thermometric composition for the measurement and the indication of low temperatures, of the type comprising mesomorphic cholesteric substances, characterized by comprising a quaternary mixture of cholesteryl nonanoate, oleyl cholesteryl carbonate, cholesteryl chloride and cholesteryl acetate.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
25 words
Thermometric composition according to claim 1, characterized by containing increasing amounts of cholesteryl acetate as the temperature of colour change of the composition is lowered.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
21 words
Thermometrical composition according to claim 2, characterized in that the three remaining components of the quaternary mixture have essentially constant concentration.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
34 words
Thermometric indicating device for low temperatures, comprising a composition of cholesteric substances applied in a microencapsulated form to the surface of a support, characterized in that said composition is according to each preceding claim.
