Process for producing a silicon carbide structure

Abstract Translated from French Une structure de carbone est imprégnée par passage dans un bain contenant 10 à 30 % en poids de résine fugitive, 20 à 40 % en poids de poudre de silicium, le reste étant constitué par un solvant de la résine ; puis est séchée de manière à éliminer le solvant et à obtenir une structure manipulable revêtue de résine et de poudre de silicium prise dans la résine ; et est soumise à un traitement thermique pour faire réagir le silicium avec le carbone et obtenir la structure de carbure de silicium. A carbon structure is impregnated by passing through a bath containing 10 to 30% by weight of fugitive resin, 20 to 40% by weight of silicon powder, the rest being constituted by a solvent for the resin; then it is dried so as to remove the solvent and to obtain a manipulable structure coated with resin and silicon powder taken in the resin; and is subjected to a heat treatment to react the silicon with the carbon and obtain the structure of silicon carbide.
