Abstract

Abstract A magnetic head mount assembly for accessing data tracks recorded on a magnetic medium includes a mounting post (10), an arm (16) which supports the post in close-fitting engagement, and a yoke (18) on which printed circuit connections are disposed. An end portion of the post is slotted (28a, 28b) to receive electrical leads (22) for connection to a ferrite magnetic transducer core (24) which forms part of an otherwise ceramic air bearing slider (26) positioned over the slotted end portion of the post. The arm element is preferably of hollow frusto-conical form.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 69 words
A magnetic head mount assembly characterised by a mounting post (10) having a slotted portion (28a, 28b) at one free end, an arm (16) having at least one aperture (12, 14) receiving the post in a close fitting engagement, and an air bearing slider (26) supporting a magnetic transducing means (24) mounted on the free end of the post and spanning the slot or slots of the slotted portion.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 69 words
A magnetic head mount assembly characterised by a mounting post (10) having a slotted portion (28a, 28b) at one free end, an arm (16) having at least one aperture (12, 14) receiving the post in a close fitting engagement, and an air bearing slider (26) supporting a magnetic transducing means (24) mounted on the free end of the post and spanning the slot or slots of the slotted portion.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 31 words
A magnetic head mount assembly as claimed in claim 1, further including printed circuit means attached to the post and constituting part of the circuit connections to the magnetic transducing means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 33 words
A magnetic head mount assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein the circuit connections further include electrical leads which pass through the slotted portion from the printed circuit means to the transducing means.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 24 words
A magnetic head mount assembly as claimed in claim 2 or 3, wherein the printed circuit means comprises a yoke structure surrounding the post.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 25 words
A magnetic head mount assembly as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the arm is hollow and has two opposing apertures for receiving the post.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 17 words
A magnetic head mount assembly as claimed in claim 5, wherein the arm has a frustoconical configuration.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 20 words
A magnetic head mount assembly as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the post is made of a ceramic material.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 23 words
A magnetic head mount assembly as claimed in any preceding claim, further including a stabilizing ring surrounding the free end of the post.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 21 words
A magnetic head mount assembly as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the slotted portion is formed with two intersecting slots.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 23 words
A magnetic head mount assembly as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the magnetic transducing means is disposed partially within the slotted portion.
