Abstract

Abstract Process for the preparation of polysulphides of the general formulae (1), (2) and (3) R-(S)x-R (1) HS-[(CH2)ySx]n-(CH2)y-SH (2) R-[Sx-(CH2)y]n-Sx-R (3) in which R, which is identical or different, denotes an alkyl radical which is optionally substituted by aryl, heteroaryl, hydroxyl, carboxyl or alkylcarboxyl groups, an aryl radical which is optionally substituted by alkyl, halogen or amino groups and/or an acyl radical, X denotes numbers from 3 to 5, Y denotes numbers from 2 to 10, n denotes numbers from 1 to 20, characterised in that mercaptans of the formulae (4) and/or (5) RSH (4) HS-(CH2)y-SH (5) in which R and y have the meaning already mentioned, are dehydrogenated using sulphur.
