Parasiticidal heterocyclic ether derivatives, processes for the manufacture thereof and compositions thereof

Claim 2

A compound or a salt thereof of the general formula wherein B is halogen or trifluoromethyl, F is isothiocyano or NHR 7 wherein R 7 is hydrogen or acetyl, s is an integer from 0 to 2, q is an integer from 1 to 3, with the proviso that when s is 2, q is 1.

Claim 3

A compound according to claim 1 selected from the group consisting of 2-(4-aminophenoxy)-5-chloropyrimidine, 2-(4-acetamidophenoxy)-5-chloropyrimidine, 2-(4-aminophenoxy)-5-bromopyrimidine, 2-(4-isothiocyanophenoxy)-5-chloropyrimidine, 2-{2-(4-acetamidophenoxy)ethoxy}-5-chloropyrimidine, 2-{2-[2-(4-acetamidophenoxy)ethoxy]ethoxy}-5-chloropyrimidine, 2-{3-(4-acetamidophenoxy)propoxy}-5-chloropyrimidine, 2-{3-(4-acetamidophenoxy)propoxy}-5-bromopyrimidine, 2-{3-(4-acetamidophenoxy)propoxy}-5-trifluoromethylpyrimidine, 2-{3-(4-acetamidophenoxy)propoxy}-5-iodopyrimidine and 2-{4-(4-acetamidophenoxy)butoxy}-5-chloropyrimidine.

Claim 4

A process for the synthesis of a compound or a salt thereof according to claim 1 or 2 which process comprises the reaction of a pyrimidine group of the formula wherein L is a leaving group chosen from halogen and alkylsulphonyl, with a compound of formula

Claim 5

A process for the synthesis of a compound or a salt thereof according to Claim 1 or 2 which process comprises the following steps in sequence: a) reaction of a pyrimidine group of formula wherein L is a leaving group chosen from halogen and alkylsulphonyl, with a compound of formula b) reduction of the nitro group in the compound produced in step a) to an amine.

Claim 6

A process according to claim 4 wherein the amine group is converted to an isothiocyano group by reaction with thiophosgene.

Claim 7

A composition comprising as active agent a compound of general formula I or a salt thereof as defined according to any one of claims 1 or 2 and an inert carrier therefor.

Claim 8

A sterile injectable composition comprising as active ingredient 5 to 70% w/w is a compound of general formula I or a salt thereof as defined according to any one of claims 1 or 2 and a pharmaceutically acceptable solvent carrier therefor.

Claim 9

A liquid composition comprising as active ingredient from 10 to 50% w/w of a compound of formula I or a salt thereof as defined according to any one of claims 1 or 2 and a pharmaceutically acceptable liquid carrier.
