Abstract

In the rear focal plane (21) of a (microscope) objective (1), the end faces of optical fibers (6) are arranged in an annular area (5) symmetrically to the optical axis, from which light bundles emanate, which pass through the objective to form parallel bundles and hit the observation surface (11) with the same angle of incidence but different azimuth angles. The ideal dark field illumination generated in this way has the effect that the otherwise dark field of view in the eyepiece (3) is brightened by disturbances in the observation surface. The light path can also be reversed in order to remove the light emerging from the observation surface from the optical fibers.
