Ultrasonic vibrator with piezoelectric semicircular rings - which fit into circular slot around mechanical resonator with cavity in shape of piezoelectric elements
Abstract
Abstract The vibrator has a piezoelectric excitation system located in a cavity in a mechanical resonator (1). The cavity has the shape of the excitation system's piezoelectric elements (3, 4) and its axial width in the uncoupled state is slightly less than the thickness of the excitation system. The cavity can be increased in size reversibly by heating or by mechanical methods in order to insert the excitation system. The cavity then returns to its original size thereby retaining the system. The piezoelectric elements each consist of semicircular rings. The cavity in the resonator is a circular slot. The elements are supplied with a voltage via a wire ring (8) that rests in a groove around the outside of the elements. The elements have appropriate electrodes and electrode contacts for the ring.
