Support mechanism for VDU - has arm on base section rotating around horizontal axis and top link around parallel axis allowing adjustment to suit operator
Abstract
Abstract A support mechanism for a v.d.u. allows adjustment to suit the height and convenience of the operator sitting at the console. It is possible to move the display unit to a combined angular and linear motion by adjusting the pivoted support links. The distance from the eye remains constant, whatever the set position of the display unit. Both the angular and linear motions are limited. The support mechanism consists of an arm which is mounted on a base section on the support table. The base section can rotate around a horizontal axis. The other end of the arm is connected to another link to allow movement around a second axis, parallel to the first. The display unit can be locked in position by stops.
