Lifting mechanism for dental chair - has electronically controlled tilting drive which matches angle of recline to that between arm and base
Abstract
Abstract The dental surgery chair has a lifting linkage between the base and the seat actuated by a first drive, while a second one tilts the seat. An electronic control for both drives brings the seat to the desired height and angle. The lifting linkage comprises a swing arm (2) attached to the seat (1) at the tilt axis (10), and the second drive (6) is electronically controlled so as to match the actual angle (beta) between seat and arm to the desired value (alpha) of that between arm and base (3). It also tilts the seat through an additional angle which can be predetermined. The angular measurement is determined by readings from a rotary potentiometer.
