Mine personnel conveyor belt safety device - has pulse emitters at entry and exit points and distance measuring unit
Abstract
Abstract The safety device is for conveyor belts transporting goods and personnel, particularly in underground mines. The entry and exit points on the belt have pulse emitters giving signals when a person climbs on or off, and a distance measuring unit emits impulses proportional in number to the distance covered. Emitters and measuring unit are connected to a computer and control unit and which incorporates sum storage units equal in number to the persons travelling on the conveyor. Feeding of pulses to these units starts with each person who climbs on, and their content is continuously compared with a constant representing the maximum permissible travel distance, being erased by a pulse from the exit point. When the content exceeds the constant, a stop signal is emitted to the belt.
