Abstract

Abstract The insufflation instrument introduces metered quantities of a gas such as CO2 or N2O into organs for examination or operation purposes. The gas is delivered at constant pressure, and the actual value of the gas pressure in the organs effect the cut-off of the gas supply via a control circuit when the desired value is reached. Conversely, it cuts in the gas supply again when the actual value falls below the desired one. The control circuit can be pneumatic, with a pneumatic actuator. The desired-value emitter can be set by turning a knob on the front of the housing.
