Abstract
Abstract The matrix is made up of two layers viz a flexible, elastic layer and a hard top layer which has a hardness suitable for the grinding/polishing medium and whose surface doubles as working surface. Used esp. for the grinding/polishing of curved glass surfaces such as TV screens. Both pre-grinding and polishing/finishing operations can be carried out on identical machines. The composite matrix enables surface flaws to be removed rapidly even from curved surfaces whilst minimising the risk of any grinding granules becoming too deeply embedded in it under working pressure.
