Aluminium oxide ceramic bone implant - with notches in the external thread to aid tissue regrowth and ossification
Abstract
Abstract The threaded ceramic bone implant with external thread is implanted by screwing into the one. The threaded course (1) has a thread (111) partially interrupted by a notch (2) so that the partially interrupted thread runs in an axial direction periodically through the threaded course. Pref. the notches which are more than 0.5mm deep permit new tissue growth to penetrate and grow into the screw to eventually ossify. The implant is made of aluminium oxide ceramic or a polycrystalline sintered body of aluminium oxide ceramic. At least one unbroken winding is arranged between two interrupted windings. The bone pin for surgical or dental purposes is designed to prevent axial movement and torque whilst encouraging growth of bone tissue.
