Abstract

Abstract An al powder slurry on a steel strip base is dried in an induction furnace, from which the steam produced is removed, and then compacted by rolling between hollow water-cooled rolls before being heat-treated in an induction or infra-red furnace for 1-5 secs. at 450-700 degrees C. Steam removal during drying reduces process time and internal cooling of the rolls prevents damage to the strip surface and avoids over-heating the bearings.
