Agitator mill
Abstract
Abstract 1314789 Agitator mills MICHAEL HUBER MUNCHEN 18 Oct 1971 [16 Oct 1970] 48449/71 Heading B2A An agitator-type ball mill comprises in addition to the chamber and agitator, a subsidiary chamber communicating with the main chamber, and means to move some or all of the elements between the two chambers. In one embodiment, a piston and cylinder arrangement is mounted at the side and in another, Fig. 2, beneath the mill. In one case the piston 22 may be actuated by a screw threaded spindle 23, or be powered by a fluid-pressure actuated ram. In the second embodiment a manual pump 25 may actuate the piston. The cylinder may be large enough to take the whole ball charge, and may include quick release fastenings to permit a complete change of charge. The arrangement may be controlled in response to the changes in load on the motor or to changes in physical property of the stock. The mill has the usual cooling jacket, and a media separator including a rotatable disc 12 and ring 11 forming a gap 13.
