Photoelectric reflection measurement of pulsing tissue - uses miniature solid state components set in synthetic resin on glass plate
Abstract
Abstract The photoelectric measurement of visual reflecting properties of pulsing blood-perfused tissue is designed to check circulation, oxygen content of the blood and pulse rate. A light source (2) and light receiver (3) are provided by miniature solid state components arranged side by side on a transparent plate (1), with all connections (10) cast on top in a synthetic resin (11) matrix forming a very flat plate. The carrier is a glass plate (1) with an opaque division (4) between the light source and receiver which presses partially into the skin for a light proof connection. The glass plate can have a conducting surface which acts as an electrode for an ECG. Two light sources of different wave lengths can be used, one made with gallium arsenide and the other with gallium phospho arsenide.
