Cooled vacuum capacitor having a variable capacitance
Abstract
Abstract In the case of this vacuum capacitor, a rotating movement about the hollow shaft (14) is superimposed on the axial coolant flow in the annular space (19) between the hollow shaft (14) and the bellows (16). In order to produce the rotational movement, the hollow shaft (14) is connected at the electrode end to the annular space (19) by flow channels (32) which rise slightly in the flow direction and open tangentially into the annular space (19). In order to keep the coolant in a circular movement at the outlet end of the annular space (19) as well, the guide sleeve (15) which is arranged on the housing cover (3) has helical grooves (35) externally. The centrifugal forces which occur in the coolant during the rotating movement prevents the coolant becoming stagnant in the corrugations of the bellows (16). In addition, in the case of a fluid coolant, the gas bubbles which form are removed from the corrugations of the bellows. This improved cooling also prevents damage being caused to the bellows (16) by thermal stress in the case of high current (flow) intensities. <IMAGE>
