Abstract

Abstract Coiling unit for use with tape employed for data recording, provides a compact unit which exerts a constant tension on the strip. In order to achieve this the band moves between two discs (1, 2) one of which (1) has a concave surface (1a) that is pressed against the band edge by a compression spring (4). The spring encircles the shaft which carries the discs and is in the form of a threaded bolt. The other edge of the band runs against the flat surface of a counter-pressure disc (2). The pressure disc (1) has a sectional cutout and is secured against rotation on the shaft by a key but can still move along the shaft.
