Abstract

Abstract A method of making a concertina-shaped gas or liquid filter from folded sheet, consists of gluing the longitudinal edges of the sheet on one side of it only to form the edges of the pockets when pressed together. At alternate folds the sheet is cut along the fold across the width of the adhesive coating. Used esp. for intake filters of I.C. engines or compressors. When the filter is opened out the adhesive is relieved of peeling stress by the incisions. This prevents further breakdown of the adhesive, resulting in leaks.
