Abstract
Abstract ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A composite structure (1) for constructional applications comprises a cover layer (2) made of an actively needle bondable nonwoven fiber fabric and a backing layer (3) optionally of the same nonwoven fabric of a synthetic plastic sheet (7), in particular a sheet with depressions (8), between the cover layer (2) and the backing layer (3), a particle layer (5) with particles (6) of structural materials, such as sand, gravel, hydraulic binders or their mixtures, is arranged. The three layers (2, 3, 5) are needle bonded to each other preferably by means of holding fibers (4) taken from the cover layer (2). Various applications of the composite body (1) are disclosed wherein the composite structure may be advantageously used as a driveway or walkway cover, as replacement for pavements, as a weighting mat, for the plastering of walls, the construction of emergency shelters, the sealing of gaps and the filling of roof passages, with the utilization of the properties of the granular particles (6) and their treatment, especially when present in the form of mixtures.

A composite structure for constructional purposes comprising at least one nonwoven fiber layer and a layer of granular particles of a structural material or at least a component of such a material, wherein the particles are of such mechanical strength that they are not destroyed by needles in a needle-bonding process, and wherein the layer of granular particles is arranged and held between a backing layer and a cover layer, with at least one of said backing and cover layers containing fibers or filaments needle bonded to the other through the particle layer, the granu-lar particles comprising sand, gravel or a hydraulic binder.
