Abstract

Abstract An insulation panel and a vertical and horizontal tie means for use with the panel Abstract of the Disclosure A thermal insulation panel for use in the construction of walls and ceilings comprises a sheet of expanded foam plastics material whose edges are provided with recesses which are adapted to receive a vertical and horizontal tie means for tying adjacent panels together. The recesses have a T-slot configuration for receiving a tie means also provided by this invention and comprising a plate and at least one member extending from one surface of the plate. The panels and tie means interlock by means of a sliding fit of the plate and member into the recesses of adjacent panels.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim 112 words
A thermal insulating panel and tie means for use in combination in construction wherein the panel comprises a sheet of expanded foam plastics having edges which are provided with recesses of T-slot configu-ration for receiving vertical and horizontal tie means, wherein the said tie means comprises an element of a shape complementary to a recess and which is adapted for sliding engagement within said recess to thereby effect edge to edge tying of adjacent panels so as to allow formation of a sheet of tied panels, and a member extending from said element for tying the sheet of panels to a supporting surface or to further like panels placed in parallel thereto.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 112 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 25 words
The combination according to claim 1 wherein the expanded foam plastics material is selected from polystyrene, polyurethane, urea and phenol-form-aldehyde foams and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene structural foams.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 14 words
The combination according to claim 2 wherein the expanded foam plastics material is polystyrene.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 30 words
The combination according to claim 1 wherein the element is a plate which has a length which is selected to be twice the depth of a recess in the panel.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 17 words
The combination according to claim 4 wherein the member extends perpendicularly from the surface of the plate.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 24 words
The combination according to claim wherein the plate is made from a thermoplastics material selected from polyvinyl chloride, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene, polyethylene, polypropylene, poly-tetrafluoroethylene and polyamides.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 28 words
The combination according to any of claims 4, 5 or 6 wherein the member is formed from one of the following materials, wire, mild steel sheeting and plastics.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 23 words
The combination according to any of claims 4, 5 or 6 wherein the member is connected to the plate by a mechanical fixing.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 54 words
The combination according to any of claims 4, 5 or 6 wherein the member is connected to the plate by a mechanical fixing, and the mechanical fixing comprises an aperture in the plate and a resilient formation on the member which, when forced through the aperture, prevents separation of the member from the plate.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 60 words
The combination according to any of claims 4, 5 or 6 wherein the member is connected to the plate by a mechanical fixing, and the mechanical fixing comprises an aperture in the plate of substantially key-hole shape and a lug formation on the member which, when inserted into the aperture and twisted, prevents separation of the member from the plate.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 48 words
The combination according to any of claims 4, 5 or 6 wherein the member is connected to the plate by a mechanical fixing, the plate and the member are formed from the thermoplastics material and the mechanical fixing is formed by welding the plate and the member together.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 43 words
The combination according to any of claims 4, 5 or 6 characterized in that the member is used to connect a pair of opposed plates to form a duplex element capable of being used to fasten a pair of opposed panels in parallel.
