Abstract
Abstract ABSTRACT Apparatus and process for treating a liquid material by charging the liquid material to a permeable element, rotating the permeable element about an axis such that the liquid material flows radially outwards and collecting at least a portion of the liquid material or a derivative thereof characterised in that the permeable element (a) interacts with the liquid material or a portion thereof, and/or (b) allows a suspension, dispersion or slurry to flow therethrough.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
142 words
l. Apparatus for treating a liquid material which apparatus comprises a permeable element which (a) allows passage of the liquid material through the pores thereof, the wall surfaces of the pores providing a substantially continuous path over which the liquid material may flow and (b) is rotatable about an axis to subject the liquid material to a mean acceleration of at least 150 m sec-2 as it flows through the said pores away from the said axis, means to charge the liquid material to the permeable element and means to discharge the liquid material or a component or derivative thereof from the permeable element characterised in that the permeable element (a) interacts with the liquid material or a portion thereof and/or (b) where the liquid material is a suspension, dis-persion, or slurry, allows the liquid material to flow through the pores thereof.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
19 words
Apparatus as claimed in claim 1 wherein the per-meable element has an interfacial area of at least 100 m2/m3.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
