Independent Claim
196 words
What is claimed is 1. A railway truck assembly comprising a bolster, bolster drag links operatively connecting the opposite ends of the holster to a railway car body, a pair of spring sus- pensions positioned on the opposite ends of the bolster and operatively carrying the car body, a pair of wheel axles, a pair of steering yokes rotatively holding the wheel axles respectively and pivoted one to the other about a vertical axis, intermediate the wheel axles, a pair of side frames positioned at the opposite ends resp- ectively of the bolster, pivot means pivotally connecting said side frame at one end to said yokes respectively, lateral link means pivotally connecting at least one side frame to the bolster, a steering crossbar having a central portion pivotally connected to one of said yokes, and a pair of yoke drag links pivotally connected at one end to the car body and at the other end to the opposite ends respectively of the steering crossbar whereby the weight of the car body is directly transmitted through said spring suspensions onto said side frames, and said side frames and yokes and bolster by an effectively centerless pivot connection.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
55 words
A railway truck assembly as defined in claim 1, further including a steering actuation device operatively connect- ing the railway car body to at least one of said yokes and operatively producing steering of the latter and of the wheel axles in response to pivoting of the railway car body relative to the wheel axles.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
47 words
A railway truck assembly as defined in claim 2, wherein said steering actuation device includes steering link means rigidly connected to said bolster, pivotally connect- ed to said steering crossbar, and laterally displacing the latter in response to pivoting of the car body relative to the wheel axles.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
38 words
A railway truck assembly as defined in claim 3, wherein said lateral link means includes a lateral anchor link pivotally connected at one end to the bolster and at the other end to one of the side frames.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
47 words
A railway truck assembly as defined in claim 4, wherein said bolster drag links are pivotally connected at one end to the railway car body on one side of the bolster and are pivotally connected at the other end to the opposite ends respectively of the bolster.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
92 words
A railway truck assembly as defined in claim 5, wherein said one end of the yoke drag links are connected to the railway car body on said one side of the bolster, said yokes are positioned on the opposite sides respectively of the bolster, said steering crossbar is pivoted to the yoke on the opposite side of said bolster relative to said one side thereof, and said other end of the yoke drag links are pivotally connected to the opposite ends of the steering crossbar on said opposite side of the bolster.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
62 words
A railway truck assembly as defined in claim 1, further including sliding pads interposed between the top of said side frames and the opposite ends respectively of the bolster, between said yokes and the bottom of said side frames, and allowing sliding of said side frames relative to said bolster and of said wheel axles and yokes relative to said side frames.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
47 words
A railway truck assembly as defined in claim 7, wherein said lateral link means includes yoke centering links later- ally extending relative to the side frames and each having one end pivotally connected to one side frame and the other end pivotally connected to a corresponding yoke.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
49 words
A railway truck assembly as defined in claim 1, further including a pivot pin pivotally joining said steering crossbar to said other yoke, and a suspending link pivotally suspended to said bolster, pivotally connect- ed to said pivot pin, and pivotally suspending said yokes and crossbar from said bolster.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
134 words
A railway truck assembly as defined in claim 6, further including friction pads interposed between the top of said side frames and the opposite ends respectively of the bolster, between said yokes and the bottom of said side frames, and allowing sliding of said side frames relative to said bolster and of said wheel axles and yokes relative to said side frames, said lateral link means including yoke centering links laterally extending relative to the side frames and each having one end pivotally connected to a side frame and the other end pivotally connected to a corresponding yoke, a pivot pin pivotally joining said steering crossbar to said other yoke and a suspension link pivotally suspended to said bolster, pivotally connected to said pivot pin, and pivotally suspending said yokes and crossbar from the bolster.
