Abstract

Abstract S P E C I F I C A T I O N IMPROVED PROCESS FOR THE FERRIC CHLORIDE LEACHING Eugene S. Allen OF SULFIDE ORES Robert C. Horn ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION An improvement in the method of leaching metals from their sulfide ores with ferric chloride which comprises leaching the metal sulfide concentrate at a temperature from slightly above the boiling temperature of the leach liquor at ambient conditions to slightly below the melting point of sulfur to increase the dissolving effectiveness and reaction rate, and the filtering rate of the leach solution.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim 62 words
An improved process for recovering metals from their sulfide ores by ferric chloride leaching in which metal recovery and the filtration rate of the leach slurry are increased, the process comprising leaching concentrates of the ores with ferric chloride at a temperature between slightly above the boiling point of the leach slurry and a temperature slightly below the melting point of sulfur.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 62 words
An improved process for recovering metals from their sulfide ores by ferric chloride leaching in which metal recovery and the filtration rate of the leach slurry are increased, the process comprising leaching concentrates of the ores with ferric chloride at a temperature between slightly above the boiling point of the leach slurry and a temperature slightly below the melting point of sulfur.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 18 words
The process of claim 1 in which leaching is performed at a temperature between about 104°C and 117°C.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 18 words
The process of claim 2 in which leaching is performed at a temperature between about 106°C and 116°C.
