Abstract
Abstract Hard steel wire, mfre. Process is similar to the parent patent, modified 737,682 are improved by addition to the bath, besides the surfactants, of substances enabling the heat transfer from the rod to the bath to be increased. Specif. the substances added may be such that during the period of allotropic transformation the speed of cooling is of the same order as in a molten salt bath. The substances may be or contain iron and/or copper sulphate, and cooling may be further speeded up by a d.c. potential between the wire rod and the bath wall.
